Fuel Fighter is a technical student organization at NTNU committed to designing and building the world’s most energy-efficient car. Since 2008, we have competed in the Shell Eco-marathon—an internationally recognized student competition focused on pushing the limits of energy efficiency through innovation, engineering, and sustainable thinking.
Our multidisciplinary team consists of 45 dedicated students from a wide range of academic backgrounds, including various engineering fields, business, and design. We are also proud to collaborate with exchange students, giving the team a strong international perspective and diverse expertise.
Driven by a shared ambition to create sustainable and forward-thinking solutions, we continuously refine our designs, technologies, and working methods to maximize vehicle efficiency. Our primary focus is the Urban Concept class, where we strive to achieve the highest possible energy performance. In addition, we actively compete in the autonomous class for the best self-driving car, as well as for recognition in communication, innovation, and design—reflecting our holistic approach to engineering and sustainability.
Beyond building an efficient vehicle, Fuel Fighter is dedicated to developing competence, collaboration, and strong problem-solving skills among our members. Through hands-on experience, interdisciplinary teamwork, and real-world engineering challenges, we aim to prepare students to become capable innovators and responsible contributors to a more sustainable future.

Our newest Team: Hydrogen
Hydrogen is a brand new team, started in autumn 2025. Even though the team is new, hydrogen is not new to Fuel Fighter. It was our very first competition technology back in 2008, and the year after, we won. Now we are going back to our roots to develop it further and aim for another victory.
The Hydrogen team has one clear goal: create the most efficient hydrogen car possible. We work on integrating and optimizing a hydrogen fuel cell, testing parameters, and designing solutions that push green transport technology forward.

At Fuel Fighter, we believe that teamwork and hands-on experience are crucial for success. We design and produce almost everything on our car ourselves, including PCB design, 3D modeling, and composite work. The students run every aspect of the organization, from financials and sponsorships to marketing and general organizational work. We're proud to offer our members the opportunity to develop practical skills that will be useful in their future careers.
